Assistant Teacher/Floater
STATUS: Part-time Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Lead Teacher
SALARY:
JOB PURPOSE
The teacher carries out the programs and policies authorized by YWCA Dept. of Human Resources, Bright from the Start (Department of Early Care and Learning) and NAEYC standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & RESULTS
• Program Planning.
• Assist the teacher in the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for children.
• Using teaching strategies that are consistent with sound principles of child development.
• Assisting in keeping the classroom arranged in an orderly manner.
• Using positive discipline method when providing guidance for children.
• Establishing a positive liaison with parents.
• Inviting parents to become involved in lesson planning and activities as well as volunteering in the classroom.
• Assisting in informing parents of child's progress and classroom activities though the use of the "parent bulletin" and the "weekly or daily report form".
• Turning in reports as required to lead teacher and/or Child Care Director.
• Participate in annual reviews and corrective plans as required for the purpose of program monitoring and self - assessment.
• Assist the lead teacher in ensuring that the classroom inventory of equipment and materials is maintained according to the established policies and procedures.

2nd Level Management: Assistant Child Care Director
3rd Level Management: Child Care Director

Parent, staff, co-teacher, volunteers, vendors
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Prefer individuals possessing a CDA and two- years experience in an early childhood setting. and /or Childhood Development Accreditation and two years experience in early childhood setting.

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with the children, parents and co-workers
