YWCA of Greater Atlanta Joins Forces with Bank of America to Address Barriers Associated with Early Breast Cancer Detection

Atlanta, GA - [August 29, 2023] - The YWCA of Greater Atlanta is teaming up with Bank of America to bolster Breast Cancer Awareness. The YWCA of Greater Atlanta, a prominent nonprofit organization with a history of empowering women and eliminating disparities in health, education, and economic opportunities, will team up with Bank of America to create a more significant impact on breast cancer awareness and early detection efforts in the local community. “Addressing barriers to health care is a critical step in helping communities move forward and realize true economic mobility,” said Al McRae, president, Bank of America Atlanta. “Supporting programs like the YWCA of Greater Atlanta’s ENCOREplus is one way we're helping increase access to health care services in medically underserved communities.” As part of this collaboration, the ENCOREplus Breast Cancer Awareness program will receive a grant from Bank of America. This grant will enable the program leaders to reach 600 underserved women across metropolitan Atlanta and provide them with valuable early detection education. In addition, funds will be used to provide more than 100 mammograms to women without health insurance. This pivotal aspect of the program will ensure that underserved women, who face barriers to healthcare access, receive essential screenings that can potentially save lives. “We are deeply grateful to Bank of America for supporting our mission to promote Breast Cancer Awareness and empower women through the ENCOREplus program,” said Danita V. Knight, President and CEO of the YWCA of Greater Atlanta. “This collaboration underscores the power of combining corporate responsibility with community-driven initiatives. Together, we can make a substantial difference in the lives of women facing breast cancer risks.” ### About YWCA of Greater Atlanta: YWCA of Greater Atlanta is a respected nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating disparities in health, education, and economic opportunities for women and communities of color.
