Academy Corner

Welcome to our Academy Corner, where we will feature the ongoings of our Academy members. We would like to spotlight Paulette Lewis, author of ‘My Mother's Daughter’. She was in the 2014 Academy class. YWCA Greater Atlanta was honored to host her book release party in June.

About ‘My Mother's Daughter’

‘My Mother's Daughter’ presents compelling stories of Black women in varying geographies, careers and stages of life with one important commonality: the powerful relationships with their mothers. These personal and poignant essays depict the impactful connection built and sustained between them, often when accomplishments by Black women were challenged.

This collection of nearly 30 essays from highly accomplished Black women delivers realistic pictures of the impactful and not-always-easy relationships between mothers and daughters. The book offers a rich testament to the first connection women have and the enduring legacy of faith, wisdom, service and love.
