In compliance with good nonprofit board governance, it is expected that nonprofit boards will “speak with one voice despite the massive currents that flow within the board’s constituencies.” Further, in order to encourage and foster open and candid discussion at its meetings, the Board of Directors of the YWCA Greater Atlanta believes confidentiality must be maintained. It is the policy of the Board of Directors of the YWCA Greater Atlanta that each Director shall keep confidential any and all information relating to discussions at its board meetings, committee meetings, and in discussions with one another unless compelled by legal process to disclose such information, or as otherwise agreed by the Board. Board members acknowledge that any violation of this policy could cause harm to the YWCA Greater Atlanta, hamper Board deliberations, negatively impact fund-raising and board and staff recruitment, and cause other deleterious consequences to the reputation of the agency, its Board, and its staff.
