Honoring Women & BIPOC Veterans: A Tribute and a Commitment

Did you know that women make up almost 10% of living veterans in the United States? BIPOC veterans account for 26% of the veteran population. Today, we honor and celebrate the remarkable contributions of women and BIPOC veterans. Their dedication, bravery, and service have not only safeguarded our country but have also paved the way for a more inclusive and diverse military.

At YWCA Greater Atlanta, we are committed to supporting these veterans through a range of impactful programs and initiatives. Our efforts align with our mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Here’s how we’re making a difference:

EncorePLUS Screenings and Workshops

Our EncorePLUS program is dedicated to the health and well-being of women. We offer screenings and educational workshops focusing on breast and cervical cancer. By providing critical health services and information, we ensure that women veterans receive the care they deserve. Our workshops also empower them with knowledge about preventive healthcare and healthy living.

Digital Skills Academy

The Digital Skills Academy at YWCA Greater Atlanta equips women, including veterans, with essential digital literacy and technology skills. This program offers courses in computer basics, software proficiency, and digital communication. Graduates of the academy are better prepared to navigate the digital world, enhancing their employment prospects and empowering them to achieve their career goals.

Georgia Women’s Policy Institute (GWPI)

Through the Georgia Women’s Policy Institute, we advocate for equitable policies that impact women and BIPOC communities. GWPI trains women to become advocates and leaders in policy-making, focusing on issues such as healthcare, economic security, and education. By amplifying the voices of women veterans, we strive to create systemic change that benefits all.

Early Learning Academy

Our Early Learning Academy provides high-quality early childhood education and employment opportunities. Women veterans who join our team contribute to the development and education of young minds. This program not only offers stable employment but also fosters a supportive community where veterans can thrive professionally and personally.

Our Commitment to Veterans

YWCA Greater Atlanta is dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all veterans. We recognize their sacrifices and contributions and are committed to offering programs that address their unique needs. From health screenings and digital education to policy advocacy and employment opportunities, we stand with our veterans every step of the way.

As we celebrate women and BIPOC veterans today, we extend our deepest gratitude for their service. We are here to support and uplift them, ensuring they have access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. Together, we can continue to build a society that values and honors the contributions of all its members.

Thank you to all the veterans. Your courage and commitment inspire us to strive for a better, more equitable world.
