Celebrating a New Addition to YWCA Greater Atlanta’s Team: Katie Farmer, Chief Development Officer

We are excited to announce the appointment of Katie Farmer as our new chief development officer. Katie joined our team at the beginning of April and has already greatly impacted our organization.

With a robust background in nonprofit leadership and development, Katie brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. After completing her undergraduate degree at Furman University in South Carolina, Katie embarked on a journey dedicated to serving communities and fostering positive change.

Katie holds a Master of Social Work and a certificate in nonprofit management from the University of Georgia, as well as a Master of Religion and Public Life from Candler School of Theology. Her commitment to professional excellence is further underscored by her certification as a Certified Fund-Raising Executive.

“Throughout her career, Katie has dedicated herself to working with organizations focused on addressing critical social issues such as food insecurity and homelessness. Now, she is excited to transition into the women and girls empowerment field, aligning perfectly with the mission of YWCA Greater Atlanta,” said Danita V. Knight, president and CEO of YWCA Greater Atlanta.

In her short time with us, Katie has already demonstrated her dedication and passion for our cause. She played a pivotal role in the success of our largest annual event, "Salute to Women of Achievement," leveraging her expertise to ensure its seamless execution.

At work, Katie is known for her meticulous attention to detail, often immersing herself in spreadsheets to drive strategic decision-making. Beyond the office, she finds joy in exploring the outdoors through hiking and other activities, particularly in the serene beauty of the mountains. Katie also cherishes spending quality time with her husband and children, exploring Atlanta and embarking on adventures together.

Please join us in welcoming Katie Farmer to the YWCA Greater Atlanta family. We are confident that her leadership, dedication, and passion will propel us forward as we continue to empower women, eliminate racism and promote social justice in our community and beyond.
