Digital Skills Academy (DSA) at YWCA Greater Atlanta has much to celebrate. Since the inaugural class in 2021, we are proud to announce that we are nearing the milestone of serving 300 women. This year has been marked by incredible achievements, growth, and empowerment for our participants.
One of the most notable accomplishments this year has been the improvement in Northstar assessment scores. For the first time in our program’s history, several students achieved perfect scores on multiple assessments, demonstrating their dedication and the effectiveness of our curriculum. These assessments, which cover essential digital literacy skills, are crucial for success in today’s job market.
Our participants have excelled academically and made significant strides in their career readiness. Every participant who received a resume also benefited from personalized job listings tailored to their skills. As of July 18, we have received survey responses from 50% of these women, revealing that they are actively applying for positions. Impressively, two participants have already secured full-time salaried positions using their newly crafted resumes, and four others have progressed to interview stages. Additionally, one participant earned a Linux Certification, underscoring our commitment to equipping women with advanced technical skills.
In our Fall 2023 session alone, 11 women transitioned from unemployed to employed, collectively contributing $240,000 to their households. This significant impact not only transforms individual lives but also strengthens our community as a whole.
Looking ahead, we are excited about upcoming initiatives for the Digital Skills Academy. Our Solomon's Temple cohort will start in September, with instructor training kicking off in August to ensure our educators are fully prepared to guide the next wave of participants. The fall cohort is set to begin on September 9th, and we are eager to continue fostering an environment of learning, growth, and empowerment for the women we serve.
Congratulations to the DSA participants for their hard work and achievements this year. We also look forward to welcoming new participants this fall and continuing our mission to empower women with the digital skills necessary for success in today’s workforce.
