In the first half off this year, YWCA Greater Atlanta’s EncorePlus program made significant strides in promoting breast cancer awareness, education, and providing mammograms at no cost for eligible women – those who are underinsured and uninsured. Our dedicated team conducted breast cancer awareness workshops in both English and Spanish, reaching over 410 attendees with vital, lifesaving information. These workshops are a cornerstone of our mission to ensure that all women have access to the knowledge and resources they need to protect their health.
Our collaboration with Emory St. Joseph’s and the Georgia Cancer Center for Excellence at Grady Health has allowed us to provide 118 mammograms. This effort underscores our commitment to breaking down barriers to healthcare and ensuring that women in our community have access to essential diagnostic services. Early detection is key in the fight against breast cancer, and we are proud to offer these vital screenings.
Building Partnerships for Greater Impact
In a remarkable development, EncorePlus established an ongoing partnership with the University of Georgia Extension Services. As a committed community partner, we facilitated a required breast health education workshop for clients approved for UGA’s Fulton Fresh Food Assistance program. This initiative ensures that recipients receive crucial breast health education while obtaining fresh fruits and vegetables, integrating wellness and nutrition for a holistic approach to health.
