Celebrating Women's Leadership: YWCA Greater Atlanta President and CEO Is Selected To Join Mayor Dickens’ Women of Atlanta Advisory Council
Recently, Mayor Andre Dickens announced the launch of the city’s Women of Atlanta Advisory Council, and Danita V. Knight, president and CEO of YWCA Greater Atlanta, was invited to participate. The appointment of Danita V. Knight to the Women of Atlanta Advisory Council aligns with the mission of YWCA Greater Atlanta to empower women, ensuring that their voices are heard and their contributions celebrated. As a member of this advisory council, Danita will help design a yearlong initiative that will determine the objectives, activations and impact of this initiative, ensuring that it uplifts and supports women.
“The urgent issues impacting women today, including maternal health, gender-based discrimination, equitable housing and the wage gap, are at the forefront of our priorities and demand immediate attention,” stated Dickens.
Women have long been at the forefront of Atlanta's households, businesses and communities. Their resilience, determination and unwavering commitment have shaped our city's identity and propelled Atlanta forward. The creation of this advisory council creates a dedicated platform to celebrate, honor and amplify their voices.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women." Through the tireless efforts of Danita V. Knight and the Women of Atlanta Advisory Council, we are reminded of the power of unity, advocacy and collective action.
