Biography: Katie Farmer
Katie Farmer joined YWCA Greater Atlanta as Chief Development Officer in early 2024.
With a robust background in nonprofit leadership and development, Katie brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role. After completing her undergraduate degree at Furman University in South Carolina, Katie embarked on a journey dedicated to serving communities and fostering positive change. Katie holds a Master of Social Work and a certificate in nonprofit management from the University of Georgia, as well as a Master of Religion and Public Life from Candler School of Theology. Her commitment to professional excellence is further underscored by her certification as a Certified Fund-Raising Executive.
Katie’s career has included serving organizations dedicated to ending homelessness and food insecurity including Intown Cares (formerly Intown Collaborative Ministries), Action Ministries, Athens Area Homeless Shelter, and Epworth Children’s Home. Her work has included organizational rebranding, program development, capacity building, and capital campaign management.
“Throughout her career, Katie has dedicated herself to working with organizations focused on addressing critical social issues such as food insecurity and homelessness. Now, she is excited to transition into the women and girls empowerment field, aligning perfectly with the mission of YWCA Greater Atlanta,” said Danita V. Katie is dedicated to storytelling and “good data” and believes that both are required to move a mission forward. At work, Katie is known for her meticulous attention to detail, often immersing herself in spreadsheets to drive strategic decision-making. Beyond the office, she finds joy in exploring the outdoors through hiking and other activities, particularly in the serene beauty of the mountains. Katie also cherishes spending quality time with her husband and children, exploring Atlanta and embarking on adventures together.
